Fire Extinguisher Cabinet

The two products serve different fire protection purposes. A fire extinguisher cabinet houses a self-contained portable extinguisher (5, 10 or 20 lb) that any occupant can grab and operate for an incipient fire. A fire hose cabinet houses a standpipe hose station (valve, hose, nozzle) connected to the building's fire-protection water supply for sustained fire attack. Extinguisher cabinets are smaller (typically 560–900 mm tall), placed at code-defined travel distances, and operated by one person without training. Hose cabinets are larger (800–2000 mm wide), placed at standpipe outlet locations, and operated by trained occupants or firefighters. Match the cabinet model to the extinguisher capacity. For a 5 lb (2.5 kg) extinguisher, specify XMDDG12 — cabinet body 560 × 210 × 150 mm, suitable for offices and hotel guest rooms. For a 10 lb (4.5 kg) extinguisher — the most common commercial size — specify XMDDG22 at 680 × 240 × 180 mm. For a 20 lb (9 kg) heavy-duty extinguisher, specify XMDDG32 (800 × 280 × 200 mm, plain) or XMDDG42 (800 × 300 × 220 mm, with accessory space). Confirm the exact cylinder dimensions with your extinguisher supplier before ordering — different brands have slightly different physical dimensions within the same weight rating. Use the decision tree above. The shortest version: for standard indoor commercial corridors choose recessed flush-mount — it meets ADA projection rules and is the default indoor specification. For ordinary outdoor locations (gas stations, parking decks, construction sites) choose the outdoor weatherproof variant. For corrosive environments (food processing, pharma, marine, chemical) choose stainless steel — 304 grade for most, 316 grade for marine and chloride environments. Projects typically mix variants across different zones of the same building — there is no single "right" answer; the right answer depends on where each specific cabinet will live.

By default, no. Cabinets ship empty so that buyers can fit an extinguisher certified to local standards — UL in the United States, EN 3 in Europe, GB 4351 in China, AS/NZS 1841 in Australia, and so on. Extinguisher certification is market-specific and shipping hazmat units internationally is often more expensive and slower than sourcing them locally. That said, we can include a Chinese GB 4351 certified 5, 10 or 20 lb ABC or CO₂ extinguisher in the cabinet at quotation time if your project permits — this is common on projects destined for the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia where GB certification is accepted. All three. Tempered safety glass door allows visual inspection of the extinguisher and tamper seal without opening — ideal for hotels, offices and public buildings where daily access is not expected but inspection efficiency matters. Clear acrylic break-front is designed to be shattered with a small mounted hammer in an emergency — fastest access, typical for schools, factories and public venues. Solid powder-coated or stainless steel door is the most durable option — specified for vandalism-prone locations and harsh outdoor environments. All three door types are available on the recessed, outdoor and stainless variants; mixing door types within a single project order is supported.

Our cabinets are designed to the principles of NFPA 10 (Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers), OSHA 1910.157 (workplace fire extinguisher requirements), and GB 4351 (the Chinese national portable extinguisher standard). Manufacturing is ISO 9001 certified and material certificates are provided with every order. The cabinet itself — unlike the extinguisher inside — is not usually subject to third-party performance certification in most jurisdictions; certifications apply to the portable extinguisher contents. Unit cost depends on variant, grade, size, door type, lock option, signage, quantity and destination. As a rough order of magnitude for factory-direct pricing from our Fujian facility: recessed painted cabinets are the most economical, outdoor weatherproof cabinets add a moderate premium, and stainless steel variants are 2–3× the cost of painted depending on grade (304 vs 316) and finish (brushed, mirror, electropolish). Volume discounts apply for project quantities above 50 units. Freight to international destinations adds 15–30% depending on distance. Typical production lead time is 15–25 days for standard painted variants and 25–40 days for stainless steel. Shipping from our Fujian factory to most international destinations is 20–40 days by sea freight, or 5–10 days by air freight for urgent orders. Total order-to-delivery is typically 5–9 weeks by sea and 3–5 weeks by air.
