Specialty Fire Nozzles — One Tool, One Scenario
Most firefighting jobs can be done with a general-purpose adjustable nozzle. A few scenarios cannot. Chimney fires need a 360-degree turning head to deliver water around corners. Oil-fire suppression needs dry chemical agent, not water. Annual fire system testing needs a calibrated pressure gauge, not a discharge nozzle. CA-FIRE manufactures three purpose-built specialty nozzles — each engineered for one specific job — for the scenarios where a general-purpose nozzle is the wrong tool.
Three Tools, Three Completely Different Jobs
The CA-FIRE specialty nozzle range is not a single product family — it is three independent purpose-built tools that share nothing in common except the brand name. The QZW-1 chimney nozzle delivers water around corners, for fires that a straight nozzle cannot service. The QGH-5 dry chemical nozzle discharges powdered fire suppressant, for fires that water would spread rather than suppress. The QCY65 pressure test nozzle is not a firefighting tool at all — it is a diagnostic instrument with a calibrated pressure gauge for fire system commissioning and inspection.
If you came here looking for an adjustable nozzle, a foam nozzle or a piercing nozzle, those are separate dedicated products — see the complete fire hose nozzle range. The three products on this page are the answers when none of the standard nozzles is the right tool: chandelier and chimney fires (QZW-1), oil depot and chemical fires (QGH-5), and fire main pressure testing (QCY65).
Chimney Nozzle
1-metre boom with 360° turning discharge head. Delivers 100 LPM at 7 bar to chimneys, sewers, lampblack channels, attic crawl spaces and large vehicle cabin dead corners that a straight nozzle cannot reach.
Jump to QZW-1 ⛽ Product 2 · For Oil & Chemical FiresDry Chemical Nozzle
Powder-discharge nozzle for fires where water spreads the fuel — oil depots, oil irrigation, chemical plants. 5 kg/s at 10 bar, 16-metre throw, M39×2 coupling with Φ32 hose reel connection.
Jump to QGH-5 📊 Product 3 · Diagnostic ToolPressure Test Nozzle
Diagnostic instrument with calibrated pressure gauge (0–1.6 MPa, 2.5-class accuracy). For testing fire hydrant systems, fire pump outlets and fire main residual pressure. Not a firefighting tool.
Jump to QCY65QZW-1 Chimney Nozzle Around Corners
Chimneys, attic crawl spaces, sewer manholes, lampblack ducting and the cabin compartments of large vehicles all share one problem: the fire is somewhere a straight nozzle cannot reach. The QZW-1 solves that with a 1-metre stainless steel boom carrying a 360-degree turning head — the operator stands outside the dangerous space and delivers water at any angle inside it.
- 360-degree turning discharge head — rotates independently of boom orientation
- 1-metre stainless steel boom reaches into chimneys, vents and crawl spaces from a safe standing position
- 100 LPM discharge at 7 bar — sized for confined-space fires that do not need high volume
- Strong lightweight aluminium body with stainless steel boom and head
- Standard 1.5″ / 2.5″ Storz / Machino / NH / NPSH couplings — fits any standard fire line
- 3 kg total weight — single-firefighter operation including extended overhead use
- Mainly used for roof, chandelier, chimney, lampblack channel, sewer, cabin and large vehicles
- Engineered for dead-corner access where vertical or straight-line attack fails

QGH-5 Dry Chemical Nozzle Oil & Chemical Fires
Water on an oil fire makes things worse — burning fuel floats on water and the splash spreads the fire. The standard answer is dry chemical: powdered sodium bicarbonate (BC powder), potassium bicarbonate (Purple-K) or monoammonium phosphate (ABC powder) discharged onto the fire to interrupt the combustion chemistry. The QGH-5 is the compact handheld nozzle for this application, designed for oil depot, oil irrigation, chemical plant and other oily fire-fighting equipment installations.
- 5 kg/s discharge rate at 10 bar working pressure — sized for typical 50–100 kg portable dry chemical tank vehicles
- 16-metre throw distance — sufficient for direct attack on contained oil and chemical fires
- M39×2 coupling matched to standard dry chemical firefighting vehicle plumbing
- Φ32 hose reel connection for compact handheld deployment from truck-mounted reels
- Compatible with sodium bicarbonate (BC), potassium bicarbonate (Purple-K), monoammonium phosphate (ABC) and specialty Class D agents
- Suitable for oil depot, oil irrigation system, chemical plant, and other oily fire-fighting equipment
- Robust construction to handle powder flow without internal abrasion damage

QCY65 Pressure Test Nozzle Diagnostic Instrument
The QCY65 is not a firefighting nozzle — it is a diagnostic instrument used to measure the hydrostatic and residual pressure of fire hydrant systems, the water outlet pressure of fire engines, and the discharge pressure of fire mains. It is the tool fire system inspectors, commissioning contractors and fire brigade testing crews use during annual flow tests, new-installation acceptance, and post-incident system verification.
- Built-in pressure gauge — 0 to 1.6 MPa range, 2.5-class accuracy (±2.5% full scale)
- 1.6 MPa nominal working pressure — matches typical fire main system rated pressure
- 1.5″ / 2.5″ coupling for connection to standard fire hydrant outlets and pump discharges
- Connect, open valve, read residual pressure directly — no calibration required in field
- Essential equipment for annual fire system inspection per local fire codes
- Suitable for new-installation commissioning, post-incident system testing, and routine maintenance verification
- Robust construction for repeated field use; gauge replaceable as spare part
- Custom gauge specifications (1.0-class, 4 MPa range, digital readout) on OEM orders

When a Standard Nozzle Is the Wrong Tool
Chimney & Chandelier Fires
A fire inside a residential chimney cannot be attacked from below — there is a fireplace in the way and the heat is going up the flue. The QZW-1 chimney nozzle extends from the roof or upper window into the flue and rotates the discharge head to wet the chimney walls from inside. Same technique works on hanging chandelier fires in older buildings where roof access is the only approach.
Sewer, Manhole & Underground Service Fires
Cable fires in underground service vaults, methane fires in sewer manholes, and fires in lampblack ducting cannot be approached for direct attack. The QZW-1 lowers into the manhole or vault and the rotating head delivers water at any angle inside the confined space — the operator stays above ground and the suppression happens below.
Oil Depot & Tank Farm Spot Fires
Small spot fires at oil depot pump skids, valve manifolds and tank rim leaks are best suppressed with dry chemical — water would spread the burning fuel, foam is overkill for a small ignition. The QGH-5 dry chemical nozzle on a small mobile unit delivers 5 kg/s for fast knockdown on small Class B fires before they grow large enough to need a foam attack.
Chemical Plant & Refinery Units
Chemical plant process units, refinery pump stations and reactor enclosures contain ignitable mixes where dry chemical is the first-attack agent of choice. The QGH-5 with M39×2 coupling integrates into the plant's compact dry chemical vehicle network for rapid local response while larger foam systems are being deployed.
Annual Fire System Inspection
Most local fire codes require annual pressure testing of fire hydrants, fire pumps and standpipe systems. The QCY65 attaches to a hydrant or pump outlet, opens flow, and reads residual pressure directly on the built-in gauge — fast enough to test an entire building or campus in a working day without specialised test equipment.
New System Commissioning
Commissioning a new fire main installation requires pressure testing at multiple test points to verify the system meets design specification. The QCY65 is the standard tool for commissioning contractors — connect, pressurise, read, document. The 0–1.6 MPa range covers nearly all standard fire main rated pressures; for higher-pressure systems custom gauge ranges are available on OEM orders.
