Tempered Glass Fire Hose Cabinet

The glass front exists for one reason: visual inspection. NFPA 25 and most local fire codes require fire hose stations to be inspected monthly. With a solid-door cabinet, each inspection means finding the key, opening the door, checking hose, valve, nozzle and tamper seal, then closing and relocking. With a tempered glass front, a facility manager walks past and sees everything in ten seconds. Across a building with 40–100 cabinets, this saves hours every month. The glass is tempered safety glass (4× stronger than ordinary glass) so it is appropriate for corridor use.

Standard SG24 cabinets use 5 mm tempered safety glass manufactured to EN 12150 and GB 15763.2. This is the same class of safety glass used in shower enclosures, automotive side windows and architectural balustrades. The tempering process puts the glass surface into compression, making it approximately four times stronger than annealed glass of the same thickness. When it does fail under extreme impact, it breaks into small blunt fragments rather than sharp shards. Thicker 6 mm or 8 mm glass is available for high-traffic or vandalism-prone installations.

Yes, the glass is designed to be replaceable as a single component without replacing the cabinet body. The aluminium frame unclips, the damaged pane is removed, and a new pane drops in. Replacement glass panes for all four SG24 standard sizes (SG24A65-J, SG24B65Z-J, SG24D65-P, SG24E65Z-J) are stocked at our Fujian facility and ship on short lead time. Order glass only by emailing [email protected] with the model number. Custom-size replacement glass is cut to order.

Four standard sizes cover the most common hose station classes: SG24A65-J at 800×650×240 mm for Class II occupant-use stations in offices and small retail; SG24B65Z-J at 1000×700×240 mm for hotels and mid-size commercial; SG24D65-P at 1600×700×240 mm for Class I and III fire-department stations in malls and office towers; and SG24E65Z-J at 1800×700×240 mm for high-rise and industrial combined stations. Yes. The SG24 cabinet is available in three mounting configurations: surface mount (default, sits on the finished wall), semi-recessed (partly inside the wall cavity), and fully recessed (entirely inside the wall cavity with only the glass and trim ring visible). Fully recessed installation meets ADA accessible-route rules because it limits corridor projection to less than 4 inches. Yes — safety is the whole point of using tempered glass. Tempered glass is classified as a safety glazing material precisely because its failure mode is designed to prevent injury. When it breaks under extreme force, the compressive surface layer releases stored energy and the pane disintegrates into thousands of small blunt fragments, each approximately 5–10 mm in size, with no sharp edges. This is in contrast to ordinary annealed glass, which breaks into large sharp shards. Tempered safety glass is the same material mandated by building codes for shower enclosures, low-level windows and guardrail infill panels.

By default the cabinet ships empty so you can fit equipment that matches local specifications, valve threads (BSP / NPT / groove) and hose certifications for your market. As an option, we can supply the cabinet fully equipped with a Class II hose station kit assembled at our Fujian factory — angle valve, lined hose, rack, nozzle, and optional portable extinguisher. Please specify requirements at quotation time so we can confirm thread standard, hose length and extinguisher type.
